Discover the Vischpoort, the only remaining city gate of Harderwijk. Visit this historic monument during a city walk or on Wednesdays and Fridays.
The Vischpoort is open during these Open Monument Days. The Vischpoort is the only remaining city gate. Harderwijk once had five: two on the seaward side (the Hoge Bruggepoort and the Vischpoort) and three on the landward side (Grote Poort, Luttekepoort, and Smeepoort). In 1851, the coastal light was placed on top of the gate. The gatehouse then became the lighthouse keeper's residence. Today, the Historical Society Herderewich is housed in the Vischpoort. During this Open Monument Day, classic cars will be on display at the Vischmarkt.
