The City Museum is housed in a former mansion in the Louis XVI style. The garden room features beautiful walls decorated with stucco. The museum showcases the history of Harderwijk, such as the Hanseatic period, when Harderwijkers traded with the Baltic countries; the Academy period, when foreign students studied and obtained their doctorates here; the Gelderland Mint; the fishing industry; and the Colonial Shipyard Depot, where foreigners were trained as soldiers. The interior of the museum has been completely renovated, and the city's history is displayed in a contemporary manner. A link has been established with the bronze statues placed throughout the city.
