Kasteel Staverden

Kasteel Staverden is the white manor house at the heart of the Staverden estate, the smallest town in the Netherlands. The castle is closed to visitors, but its park is open: walk along the moat and spot white peacocks.

The heart of the Staverden estate

Kasteel Staverden is the centrepiece of the Staverden estate in the middle of the Veluwe. The white manor house was built in 1905 on the site of a much older castle, remains of which can still be found in the basement. With only around fifty inhabitants, Staverden is known as the smallest town in the Netherlands.

Castle gardens and white peacocks

The castle itself is not open to visitors, but the park and gardens are. Walk along the moat, small streams and little waterfalls, and look out for the white peacocks. Three marked walking routes of about three kilometres start from the large car park.

Brasserie in the orangery

Brasserie Staverden in the old orangery serves coffee, lunch, drinks and dinner, with two garden terraces. The estate is also a popular wedding venue.
