Huizerhoef

Huizerhoef feels like a green sanctuary on the edge of the water. A small-scale island with a safe harbor basin, forest, and open grasslands, where you step ashore after a boat trip to clear your head or simply seek peace and quiet.

About the island

The island of Huizerhoef is located in the Gooimeer and has an intimate character. With room for about twenty boats, it is smaller and quieter than many other islands. Here, you are moored amidst greenery, safe in the harbor basin, with forest and open grasslands all around you.

The island was created in the 1970s and is part of the nature reserve along the Gooimeer and Eemmeer. This environment creates a striking contrast: open water, reed banks, and forest edges alternate. Those who arrive early in the morning are treated to a beautiful view.

Huizerhoef is a place to stretch your legs, let children play on the small beach, or take a walk around the island. During warm weekends, it can be pleasantly busy. If it is quieter, it is the perfect place to unwind.
