The anatomy lessons of the Gelderland Academy were initially held in the Catharina Chapel. In the Disaster Year of 1672, the anatomical theater there was destroyed by French troops. In 1705, this building next to the herb garden was converted into a laboratory, storeroom, and anatomy cellar for the Gelderland Academy. The professors taught anatomy classes here. For this reason, the building was also known as the “snijcamer” (dissection room).
