Rijmen met Van Dongen, van Muiswinkel & Beuving

A unique evening about writing theater lyrics.

In a nightclub…

I was sitting this week…

That is another way to do it, but what exactly do you pay attention to in song lyrics? How do you handle rhyme schemes? What do you do with meter, or the combination of stressed and unstressed syllables?

Writing lyrics is art with a capital A. In the Netherlands, the theater song is honored annually with the Annie M.G. Schmidt Prize. Jurrian van Dongen and Jan Beuving have already won that coveted prize. Erik van Muiswinkel translated major Disney musicals such as Aladdin and Frozen. These three men are linguistic virtuosos, also when it comes to theater songs. What is their secret?

Jurrian van Dongen will discuss this with Jan Beuving and Erik van Muiswinkel. This has never been done before, making it a special and educational evening.
