After KP 43, you will see houses on the right called De Brakken. On July 2, 1940, the first farmlands in Hierden were requisitioned by the German occupiers. Construction then began on a shooting range where soldiers could train in firing artillery. The troops were housed at the beginning of the paved road in specially built barracks, which today have been converted into residential houses and are popularly known as De Brakken. Opposite these barracks were six small stone bridges, of which only two remain today. Army vehicles were parked on these bridges. Due to the tall trees behind them, the vehicles were hidden from view by aircraft.

At Camping de Peperkamp in Hierden, you will find peace, space, and freedom. It is a rural campsite located near the Veluwe forests. The ideal place in the Municipality of Harderwijk to unwind.

At the point where the waters of Lake Veluwe merge into the vast forests of the Veluwe lies the monumental village of Hierden. The village was first mentioned in the year 1331 and consists of a number of hamlets. Hierden has traditionally been agricultural, and the traces of this are clearly visible with nearly 50 national and city monuments.

Hierden has since acquired its own character, partly due to the typical North Veluwe farmhouses, many of which have been converted into beautiful residential farmhouses with an eye for detail.

The Hierdense Beek is striking, stretching for 25 km across the Veluwe and eventually flowing into Lake Veluwe. This stream connects various ecological zones and is home to many rare animal species.

Just outside the village centre of Hierden lies our peaceful camper site 'de Doornekamp' – in the heart of nature, between fields of maize, potatoes, wheat, herbs, and beets, and with the most beautiful cycling routes of the Veluwe right next to our grounds.

Bram Hop rents out regular bicycles, electric bicycles, mountain bikes, tandems, trailer bikes, and child trailers. You can reserve a bicycle via the online order form or by phone.

The Zwaluwhoeve has been renovated

De Zwaluwhoeve has recently been completely renovated. Even more than before, the emphasis is on tranquility, space, and comfort. The complex is now four times larger than before; spacious and well-organized. The changing rooms have been relocated and renovated. There are new saunas, and a beach has even been created for the summer period! Wellness and relaxation facilities have also been added and updated.

Do you often suffer from the flu or a stuffy nose? Then visit the sauna more often! Regular sauna visits boost your immune system and improve blood circulation. This has a positive effect on pain complaints such as muscle pain, back pain, and pain caused by rheumatism.

Sweating ensures that waste products are eliminated. During a 'sauna session', you lose a total of approximately 0.5 to 1.5 liters of fluid containing waste products. Replenish this well with water and fruit juices after the sauna. In addition to being healthy for your body, the sauna is also healthy for the mind. You unwind, clear your head, and go home completely recharged.

Naked or in swimwear?

You can come and relax nude, in swimwear, or on a ladies' day. Whatever you feel comfortable with! On a regular day, swimwear is not permitted for ladies or gentlemen. A sauna session is most enjoyable without swimwear; you feel freer and less confined. Still prefer to wear swimwear? A swimwear day is the ideal introduction to the world of saunas and baths. On swimwear days, wearing swimwear is mandatory throughout the entire resort.

Every Tuesday and every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month is swimwear day. Would you like to enjoy a Day of Wellness but prefer to be with women only? Every 1st Thursday of the month is Ladies' Day until 5:00 PM at the Zwaluwhoeve. Wearing swimwear is not permitted on this day.

De Kouwe Hoek is the name of the charming farmhouse dating back to 1787, situated on the Zuiderzee Route between Harderwijk and Nunspeet in a beautiful spot in the countryside of Hierden. A resting place with a magnificent garden featuring, among other things, borders arranged by color, many roses, a frog pond, and a vegetable garden. Welcome to the terrace where you can enjoy the view over farmland and the sea. Want to visit the garden? Welcome! Please register in advance.

De Rumelshof is a monumental farmhouse dating back to 1909. You will stay in a private section of the farmhouse with a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and living room, entirely to yourself. A dog is not a problem, provided it does not chase our sheep and horses. Bringing a horse is also possible. The surrounding area is perfect for walking and cycling. De Rumelshof is situated at the start of a walking and cycling route along the Randmeer coast to Elburg. The Leuvenumse Woud and Beekhuizerzand are also nearby.

From the Rumelshof, the Zwaluwhoeve, the city of Harderwijk, and the Dolfinarium are within cycling distance. And we have electric bikes for rent.

You have free access to your apartment, the parking space, and the yard in front of the stable. The farmhouse garden is not accessible.

B&B de Rumelshof is situated in a rural area, so some noise may be heard early in the morning and late in the evening as local farmers work their land. Our chickens provide fresh eggs, but also clucking.

Stable & Paddock

De Rumelshof has been a livery stable for a long time, but has only been in the hands of the current owners since the summer of 2003. Previously, the livery stable had 14 'stalls'. We first reduced this to 9 and later to 6 boxes. In 2006, the stable was rigorously renovated, and there is now only a large walk-in stable with a hay rack and 1 individual stall.

The horses are kept in a herd and are kept outside 24/7 in a spacious enclosure. Over the years, a simple paddock has grown into an enclosure where there is plenty to discover! The horses can walk from the walk-in stable to the pastures via various paths. Along the way, they encounter natural elements such as a water trough, a hill, and various sandboxes. There is always sufficient space to seek each other out or to withdraw for a moment. They are allowed to use the walk-in stable, paddock, and paths at any time. During the summer months, this is supplemented with pasture access.

Throughout the entire enclosure, the horses walk on unpaved (flax, white and black sand, and grass) and paved (paving) surfaces. The stable is also divided into a paved and an unpaved section. This ensures hoof wear comparable to natural growth and wear.

There is an outdoor arena with lighting and a separate lunging arena. Both are part of the outdoor enclosure but can be closed off when in use.
